AES opens region's biggest hydro plant in 30 years

The unit in Panama of the US power company AES opened the Changuinola 1 hydroelectric scheme in Bocas del Toro province on the Caribbean coast.

Changuinola is the biggest hydroelectric plant built in Central America in the last 30 years.

The government says the scheme will create 2,500 much-needed jobs in the region.
