AES to build region´s first natural gas power plant

US-based company AES plans to build the first natural gas-fired power plant in Central America.

Most of the environmental permits are in place for the plant and the first payments are being made to the $970 million investment budget. Previously, the plant was to have been designed for coal.

AES did not explain how it was going to obtain the gas, but it indicated that it would be imported in liquid form.
