Agricultural exports from Honduras to the United States rise by 7 percent

Agricultural exports from Honduras to the United States under the Cafta accord reached $627 million last year, some 7 percent more than in 2009.

El Salvador was the first country to start Cafta exports to the US in March 2006, followed by Honduras and Nicaragua in April and Guatemala in July of the same year.

The leading Honduran exports to the US are banana, melon, watermelon, papaya and some vegetables.
