Air France strike hits Panama-Paris flights

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

An Air France pilot strike announced last weekend has affected the airline's direct flights between Panama and Paris.

Some passengers in Panama flew back to Paris this week with other carriers, while others were placed in hotels to wait for further replacement services, an Air france spokesperson said.

The French carrier hopes to maintain 40 percent of its flights, and estimates that 60 percent of its pilots have joined the strike led by the Snpl, Spaf and Alter unions who are opposed to a project that would create 250 new pilot jobs for Transavia, a recently acquired low-cost airline.
