Alajuela is now regarded as the center of industrial development in Costa Rica as new companies flood in.
Businesses have invested nearly $300 million over the last two years, and construction has grown by 90 percent.
The city's principal advantage is its logistics. It lies a few kilometers away from the Juan Santamaría international airport and major highways criss-cross the area.
