Alba Petróleos drives surge in El Salvador service stations

Monday, November 22, 2010

The launch of operations by the new Alba Petróleos plan and the trend in regional markets are boosting growth in the number of independent service stations in El Salvador.

Alba Petróleos is owned by an alliance of municipal governments controlled by the ruling FNLN and Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, PdVSA.

The Alba plant at Acujutla, Sonsonate, cost $120 million, which was financed by PdVSA. It has the capacity to store and distribute fuel for hundreds of independent service stations throughout the country.
