Albany prepares for bigger Panama Canal

Because of the rebuilding of the Panama Canal thousands of miles away, the state of New York is pumping $15 million into the Port of Albany on a bet that shipping here could increase, under the new budget adopted this week.
The money will help prepare the port to handle cargo containers, which port officials hope will attract shippers who might want a way around congestion at the Port of New York.
