América Móvil is discussing alternatives for Digicel El Salvador. Transactions concluded in Honduras and Jamaica

América Móvil is discussing alternatives for its planned acquisition of Digicel Group’s El Salvador unit after failing to receive “satisfactory” regulatory approval for the deal.

The Mexico-based company which is controlled by the tycoon Carlos Slim, announced its decision in an e-mail.

The company said earlier today it completed the acquisition of Digicel’s Honduras unit and the sale of its own Jamaica unit to Digicel. The companies announced the three transactions in March without disclosing financial terms.
