APM 'generates more jobs than those lost by Dole'

Once the Moín container terminal becomes operational in Costa Rica it will create more jobs than the 240 lost yesterday by the Dole fruit company, APM Terminals claimed.

"The socio-economic study estimates that 147,000 jobs will be created throughout the country and in the coming 10 years and that, even before the opening is complete, 540 direct jobs have already been created," said Kenneth Waugh, head of Netherlands-based APM.

The jobs shed by Dole were for work on containers that are now surplus to the needs for APM.
