AT&T cannot achieve its ambitious goal in Mexico

AT&T has made it a goal to become the number one telecom player in Mexico in ten years. With growth slowing in the mature US market, the company believes Mexico offers an attractive opportunity.

But Carlos Slim’s América Móvil has a strong competitive position and, even with regulatory assistance, AT&T seems fated to fail to unseat the leader.
