Auction ends Mexico's state monopoly in power

Eleven companies from five different countries won the first long-term electricity auction in Mexico after decades of a state monopoly.

Energy minister Pedro Joaquín Coldwell said: “This is a big day for Mexico. A diversified electricity sector has been born.”
