Avianca to operate direct flights to London

Colombian airline Avianca has struck a deal with London's Heathrow airport to operate direct flights between the two countries.

The accord will directly link both countries after a decade.

Talks about the flights started in 2009, but Avianca preferred to wait for Heathrow despite availability in other airports in the South East of Britain, as it can take advantage of transfer traffic to fill flights.
