AviancaTaca and Copa take flight with Star Alliance

Regional airlines AviancaTaca and Copa have joined the global Star Alliance network. AviancaTaca is a merger of Colombian and
Slavadoran airlines, while Copa is based in Panama.

All three of the global airline alliances -- Star, SkyTeam and Oneworld -- have been vying to recruit members in Latin America.

Throughout the world, Star Alliance has 27 airlines with 21,500 flights a day from 1,356 airports in 193 countries.
