Banks in Costa Rica hunt wealthy clients

Thursday, September 1, 2011

Shopping areas favored by the middle and upper classes have become strategic locations for banks in Costa Rica.

Eight banks have established 19 offices in areas where their top-end clients visit malls.

The province of Alajuela is currently the hot spot. BAC San José opened a Rapibanco unit in the new Automercado, Scotiabank has a new one in Plaza Grecia, while three banks -- Banco de Costa Rica, Cathay and Bansol -- have opened branches in Plaza Real Alajuela.
