Banks in Honduras bore the brunt of the impact of the decision to change the system for setting the exchange rate of the lempira.\

Demand for dollars far exceeded the available supply in many branches.\

The vice-president of the bankers’ association criticized the new system that is based on exchange rates. “Several banks were unable to get dollars in the auction,” he said.\
