Banks scoop Costa Rica insurance sales

Monday, September 12, 2011

Banks in Costa Rica have shaken up the Costa Rican insurance industry following removal of a state monopoly.

In the first half of this year, the banks’ income from sales of insurance policies rose by 25 percent compared with the same period of last year.

Policies most in demand are those for automobiles, life, fire and those linked to credit and debit cards.
