BHP Billiton eyes Mexican projects

Friday, September 5, 2014

Australian mining firm BHP Billiton met with Mexican officials in order to explore investments in the Latin American country.

"We are very interested in Mexico. We are certain that we are one of the best companies in drilling and among the lowest-cost firms in deepwater projects in the Gulf of Mexico. We can build better and quicker projects than the rest," said Tim Cutt, president of BHP's oil division.

In August this year, Mexico completed its plans to allow foreign companies to invest in oil and gas projects.
