Big banks find unlikely Mexican ally

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador likes to say his lifestyle is so spartan that he doesn’t use a checking account or a credit card. But he wants more Mexicans to have them.

Since his election last July, the left-wing nationalist has emerged as an unlikely ally to big banks looking to expand in Mexico, the Wall Street Journal reports.
