Big earnings spur investment in Panama insurance

Three new insurance companies are applying for licenses to operate in Panama due to the development of the sector in Central America.

During the first nine months of last year, insurers based in Panama recorded earnings of $689 million, up from $645 million in the same period of 2009.

Costa Rica’s insurance industry earned $524 million in the first nine months of 2010, up from $424 million in the 2009 period.
