Bitter legacy of El Salvador's coffee

El Salvador used to be a shining example to other coffee-growing countries in terms of its resources in skills and research into the crop.

Before the civil war in the late years of last century, the country produced some 4 million quintals. Now the latest forecast is for 833,000.
