Brazil’s Grupo Schmidt Irmãos opens ladies footwear plant in Nicaragua. Investment $25 million

The Brazilian company Grupo Schmidt Irmãos opened a Nicaraguan plant to specialize in shoes for women. The investment of $25 million is expected to create 3,500 jobs.\

SCA Footwear Nicaragua, the Brazilian group’s Nicaraguan offshoot, has been operational since July. Production is 4.5 million pairs a year.\

According to ProNicaragua, the government’s investment promotion agency, the nation’s free zones registered 92,000 jobs in June, a 23.5 percent year-on-year increase.\
