Britain's BG Group to explore for oil in Honduras

BG Group, headquartered in Reading, UK, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Honduran government for the exploration of oil in the Caribbean sea.

The Honduran Environment minister, Rigoberto Cuéllar, pointed out that this type of project has not been carried out for the past 30 years.

During the talks that led to the memorandum, the government also negotiated additional benefits, such as financial help from BG Group for the communities around the exploration areas.
