Businessman Luis Velásquez named as new Economy minister of Guatemala

Luis Velásquez Quiroa, a businessman, was sworn in as the new Economy minister of Guatemala.
He replaces Érick Coyoy, an economist, who is to be Guatemala’s representative of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.
Velásquez is the fifth Economy minister to be appointed during the administration of President Alvaro Colom which has only eight months left in office.
