C&W Panama plans HSPA+ services to upgrade mobile network. Confusion over alleged claims of 4G status

Cable & Wireless Panama, the Panama business of Cable & Wireless Communications, said it is upgrading its mobile network to HSPA+ in order to benefit from the country’s growing demand for mobile data.\

CWP, which operates under the +Movil brand, will begin the nationwide introduction of HSPA+ technology from September. The company is calling it “4G”, but don’t allow that to mislead you!\

Many companies are now claiming their HSPA+ networks are 4G, however they have completely misread an International Telecommunications Union press release .\
