CABEI to fund green energy projects

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration, CABEI, announced plans to invest $500 million in green energy projects across Central America.

Costa Rica will receive the largest part of the funds, said Fernando Cerna, energy expert at the bank.

The bank said Central America has capacity to generate 39,000 Megawatts through geothermal sources, some 22,000 Megawatts with hydroelectric plants, and up to 63,000 Megawatts with wind farms.
