The end of the state monopoly in telecommunications in Costa Rica has revived competition among cable TV companies.\

Now the companies offer much more than TV. On offer are data packages and soon there will be telephony by Internet.\
\
The new packages have boosted sales. Instead of trying to hold on to existing customers, as was the strategy in the past, they are offering them new services.\
