Cable & Wireless Panama has announced plans to spend approximately $4.5 million to establish a data center in the Panama Pacific Special Economic Area.
The data center will focus on storage of information and will operate as a server for business customer operations in Central America and the Caribbean.
Jose Quintero, executive director of technology at C&W Panama, was quoted as saying: "The decision to locate this data center is due to the location of a fiber optic cable crossing Panama's 'Bridge of the Americas' that enables high speed transfer of information in both directions."
