Call centers create thousands of jobs in El Salvador

Monday, November 21, 2011

US-based Express Teleservices has opened a call center in El Salvador with 100 employees, but aims to hire 500 more over the coming year.

The export promotion agency, Proesa, reckons that from 2005 to this year, growth in services, including call centers, has grown by 29 percent and now accounts for more than half of the economy.

Call centers currently generate 12,000 jobs. In 2005, they had only 800.
