Canada’s GoldCorp sold $1.4 billion in Guatemala

Canadian miner GoldCorp achieved sales of $1.4 billion in five years from gold and silver mined in Guatemala. During that time, the company exported 1.2 million ounces of gold for a total of $1.1 billion, as well as 18.2 million ounces of silver that provided $300 million. 

In five years, GoldCorp has paid $126 million taxes to the Guatemalan state. In addition, it has invested $15 million in construction of schools, a medical center and roads, as well as a food program.
