Car prices in Costa Rica are much higher than in other Central American nations

Buying a car in Costa Rica can cost more than in Panama by up to $8,000. The same is found in the prices of major appliances.

A comparative study by the economy ministry revealed that Costa Rica is the most expensive in the region when buying appliances and vehicles.

A new Toyota Yaris, on average costs $15,700 in Panama, $18,100 in Nicaragua and Guatemala, but in Costa Rica $23,600.
