Carlos Slim has big plans to develop satellite television with Internet in Costa Rica

América Móvil, the telecommunications company of Mexican magnate Carlos Slim, has its eyes on Costa Rican satellite television.

The company owns the Claro brand in 18 different countries in the Americas. It has already applied for a license to offer satellite television services, to include cellular phone and internet services in one single package.
 
First, América Móvil aims to compete for market position in the wireless market with Digicel, Cable & Wireless, Millicom and Telefónica who will compete with the state telecom, Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad.
