Cemex auhtorized to buy Holcim Spain

European Union authorities have given green light to Mexican cement maker Cemex for its plan to acquire Holcim's operations in Spain.

The authorities said the operation would not affect competition in Spain.

"The Committee has concluded that the operation would not affect competition, as the resulting company would still be facing sufficient competition from its rivals," the European Committee said.
