Central America: driver's hell

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

Traffic jams and bad roads make Central American countries among the world’s worst for driving, according to the Global Driver Satisfaction Index, developed by Waze.

The region overall is located in the bottom third of the 32 countries studied, especially El Salvador, which finished last.

Number one worldwide is the Netherlands.

Honduras and Nicaragua are not included in the report, which studied factors such as road quality, congestion and driver safety, based on the opinion of 50 million users in 167 cities (numbers in parentheses indicate the position of each country in the ranking).

1            Costa Rica (22)

2            Panama (24)

3            Guatemala (31)

4            El Salvador (32)
