Central America is foreign investment star

Last year was a very disappointing one for foreign direct investment in Latin America, but Central America was a big exception, Eclac, the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, reported.

In Latin America, FDI was 9.1 percent down to $179 billion, in part because of the slump in commodities. But investment in Central America was up by 6 percent to $11.8 billion, helped by the new economy of services and renewable energy.
