Central America is Latin bright spot

Economic activity in Latin America and the Caribbean remains sluggish. Real GDP is expected to grow by 0.6 percent in 2019—the slowest rate since 2016—before rising to 2.3 percent in 2020.

However, in Central America and the Dominican Republic, 4 percent growth is predicted, despite the difficulties faced by Panama and Costa Rica, as well as the 5 percent slump in Nicaragua, the International Monetary Fund reports.
