Central America squanders oil, accuses World Bank

Central America and the Caribbean could make substantial savings on their oil bills, according to a report from the World Bank.

If the countries of the region were to make rational use of oil, they could save 1.6 percent of their gross domestic product, the report says.

And some of the poorer countries are the most wasteful. Nicaragua and Honduras are singled out as outstanding examples of waste.
