Central American importers visit farm-goods producers in Washington state

Nine produce importers from Mexico and Central America are touring Washington this week to look for new products and new suppliers.

They form part of an increased effort by the state's agricultural industry to boost exports to the region.

US exports to Central America have grown since 2005 passage of Cafta. For example, exports of Washington food and agricultural products to El Salvador grew tenfold between 2006 and 2010 to $60 million.
