Certification is block on Honduran export ambitions

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

Honduras is restricted in its efforts to profit from its free-trade accords because of a lack of certifications of production processes and quality of its products.

Less than 10 percent of Honduran companies are certified, according to the national industry association, Andi.

"Certification is expensive. Just one process might cost $25,000, and that's more than most companies can afford," said Andi director Fernando García.
