Chavez crisis plunges Nicaragua into uncertainty
The health crisis facing Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez leave Nicaragua in political and economic uncertainty.
Nicaragua is the only Central America country belonging to the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, known as ALBA, an international cooperation organization led by Chavez.
Through ALBA, Nicaragua has preferential access to Venezuelan oil and trade benefits. Venezuela and Nicaragua currently trade some $500 million each year.
