Chevron Caribbean to withdraw from Central America

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Chevron Caribbean, owner of Texaco, is withdrawing from 16 Central American and Caribbean countries, Chevron regional manager Juan Habed said.

Habed said that the sale of their assets in the region was not due to the performance of Venezuelan Petrocaribe, but to an overhaul and internal evaluation.

Habed said that since March 2010 they began offering their assets to different companies in the region, but they have not concluded any sales contract yet.

Chevron will announce the name of the companies with which it is negotiating.
