China and Costa Rica plan special economic zones

China and Costa Rica are planning the construction of special economic zones in the Central American country, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

A preliminary study showed that the projectm to be financed by the Chinese government, would generate more jobs and attract investment by building the zones in coastal areas, taking advantage of the country's ports.

The project would adapt the Chinese model of special economic zones to Costa Rica, said Alexander Mora, incoming Foreign Trade minister.
