China's Xinwei puts $700 million into Nicaragua telecoms

Nicaragua has given approval to China's Xinwei to operate cellular phone and internet services.

Xinwei will start operations this year, iwith an initial investment of $700 million, while estimates say the total investment could reach $2 billion over the next three years.

The project includes the launching of the satellite Nicasat-1, which should be ready by 2015.
