China will be in charge of the expansion works to a highway in Costa Rica, which runs from the capital San José, to the Caribbean coast.

The project will cost $380 million, of which China will pay about $100 million through its ICBC Bank and the China Development Bank.

The works will expand the highway to four lanes, and will include the construction of pedestrian footbridges, tunnels and cycle lanes.
