Friday, July 29, 2011

\ Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla announced a cabinet reshuffle as she came under further pressure over a massive funding gap in the national healthcare system.\ \ Chinchilla said Health Minister Maria Luisa Avila had stepped down following weeks of criticism of the government over the cash shortfall in the social security system known as la Caja.\ \ Chinchilla said Foreign Minister Rene Castro would likely become Minister of Environment, Energy and Technology. That post became vacant last week when Teofilo de la Torre stepped down to become director at the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE).\ \ Original source: Xinhua\ \ \ \
