Chinchilla under fire from legislators in Costa Rica

Angry scenes emerged in Costa Rica's legislature emerged after opposition members stated they would not back president Laura Chinchilla's plans to solve the budget deficit, until she dismisses two members of her cabinet.

The Cabinet members in question, vice-president Luis Liberman and former education minister Leonardo Garnier, were accused of helping the wife of former finance minister, Fernando Herrero, to land a contract.

Fernando Herrero was involved in a tax evasion scandal earlier this year. Chinchilla refused to accept the opposition's terms.
