Cinepolis, Cinemark and Circuito Alba in Guatemala movie-theater battle

At least three major chains of movie theaters -- Cinepolis, Cinemark and Circuito Alba -- are battling out for Guatemala’s growing number of cinema-goers. 

The theaters of Mexico’s Cinepolis chain are full every weekend. Meanwhile, US-based Cinemark has invested $2.5 million six 3D theaters in the Eskala Roosevelt mall.

A local chain, Circuito Alba has plans to open up in the provinces, with new theaters in the north and east of the country.
