Cocoa keeps the flag flying for Nicaragua

Friday, March 29, 2019

Amid the political and economic crisis in Nicaragua, cocoa appears to be one of the only sectors where progress is being made. In January and February, the country exported 883.4 metric tons of cocoa, an increase of 537.5 tons a year earlier.

Even so, as with other export sectors, cocoa producers face severe financial difficulties.

However, Guillermo Jacoby, the producers' leader, recently said that international cocoa prices are moving upward in the international markets, La Prensa reports in Spanish.
