Coffee growers in Guatemala fear falling prices in New York Intercontinental Exchange

Coffee growers in Guatemala are concerned about the sharp fall in coffee prices at the Intercontinental Exchange in New York.

Last Friday the price was quoted at $220 per quintal, while yesterday itclosed at $200. The prices were affected by uncertainty in the global economy, said the Guatemalan Coffee Association.

The tendency will have a negative impact on Guatemalan coffee growers, because it coincides with the peak of the harvest and international sales.
