Wednesday, January 16, 2013
A plague of coffee rust is severly damaging Central America's number one export crop.
It has already damaged 35 percent of Nicaragua's crop, which lost some $100 million worth of coffee, while in Guatemala, it has damaged 80 percent.
Authorities are taking measures against the plague, including a specialized committee in Nicaragua, that will look for solutions from the producers and exporters.
