Colombia and Ecuador agree to bolster ties

Colombia and Ecuador have vowed to build long-term friendly bilateral ties, Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin and her visiting Ecuadorian counterpart Ricardo Patiño said in a joint statement.

The two ministers met to address the agenda to be discussed Monday by Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and his Ecuadorian counterpart Rafael Correa at their summit in Ipiales in Colombia's southwestern Nariño department.

Patiño said the Governments want to start building a long-term vision for the development of the two countries, particularly in the border area.
